Fasika Tefera is an experienced executive coaching and expert facilitator for SHAMBAUGH. She has over 16 years of combined experience in organization development, human capital development and strategy, coaching, management, and sales. She is committed to coaching leaders in executing strategy, change, and to enhancing organization and individual performance.
Fasika’s philosophy as a coach is to help leaders see their potential and produce results, to become the leader they aspire to be. Fasika engages in open dialogue based on active deep listening and trust to help leaders understand the context, nuances and multiple perspectives of their situation. As a coach Fasika supports deep learning in the coaching relationship. She is a thinking partner to help clarify thinking and to highlight multiple options for action. Fasika also acts as accountability partner in goal setting to help identify strengths and blind spots, and support the development of plans to attain desired outcomes. As a non-judgmental, deep listener Fasika helps to identify patterns and behaviors, develop practices and strategies to change, and support the coachee as they try new leadership stances. Fasika uses questions to help the coachee see how his/her beliefs, assumptions and patterns of thinking create their current result.
Fasika currently supports a diverse range of private and public sector clients. She develops creative needs-based solutions that align human capital activities with organizational goals and strategy to achieve long-term growth and sustainability. Her work includes mentoring and coaching leaders to increase employee engagement, team effectiveness, and lead strategic change.
Fasika also supports SHAMBAUGH in consulting and design of targeted and results focused programs and solutions that address challenges for existing and future leaders. Her comprehensive work in this area includes conducting readiness assessments, facilitating strategic change and leadership development programs, and coaching leaders.
Fasika has also applied her passion for making a difference in both the private and non-profit sector by offering strategic leadership support. She served as the Executive Director of Fusion Dance Company, a non-profit organization focused on bringing the arts to underprivileged youth and children. Fasika also partnered with Fairfax County to offer team building and leadership workshops. Fasika received the Fairfax County Neighborhood and Community Services Distinguished Partner Award for her work with the Women Inspired Neighborhoods (WINs) leadership retreat.
Fasika obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology as a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Mary Washington, her MBA in Organization Development from Johns Hopkins University Carey Business School, and later became a certified practitioner of MBTI. Fasika completed the Leadership Coaching Certificate program at Georgetown University’s Institute for Transformational Leadership and is an International Coaching Federation Certified Coach.
